Primary Function:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Configuration Management Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and traceability of system configurations, managing change control processes, and maintaining compliance and adhering to DoD and industry standards.


Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management processes to ensure the integrity and consistency of product designs, configurations, and documentation across all phases of development and lifecycle.
  2. Maintain configuration control of system specifications, drawings, and related technical documentation
  3. Collaborate with engineering teams to support the development and maintenance of product baselines, ensuring compliance with applicable aerospace and DoD regulations and requirements.
  4. Review and evaluate design changes and manage the impact of changes on existing systems, ensuring proper documentation and approval through formal change control processes.
  5. Ensure configuration data is correctly captured, stored, and tracked throughout the lifecycle of each project or program.
  6. Support audits, inspections, and reviews of product configurations to verify compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  7. Develop and deliver configuration management reports and metrics to leadership and stakeholders on a regular basis, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  8. Assist with the development and implementation of configuration management tools and systems to improve efficiency and streamline workflows.
  9. Ensure compliance with DoD-specific standards and industry best practices, including those from the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) and MIL-STD-973.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in configuration management, preferably within the Aerospace or DoD sectors.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles and practices in the context of defense or aerospace engineering.
  • Familiarity with DoD regulations, including MIL-STD-973, EIA-649, or other relevant industry standards.
  • Experience with configuration management software/tools (e.g., PDM, PLM systems).
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and government contract requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (if required).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with aerospace systems, components, and DoD programs.
  • Knowledge of version control and change management systems.
  • Certification in configuration management (e.g., CM2, ICCP, or related certifications).
  • Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Work Conditions:

  • Office environment with occasional travel required for site visits or customer meetings.
