Primary Function:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Buyer to join our team! As a Buyer, you will be responsible for assisting in the purchasing of materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. You will manage a dedicated supplier list, coordinate with vendors, track purchases, and ensure vendor quality while supporting internal and external stakeholders. You will also work with the company’s ERP system (Costpoint) to create and submit RFQs, convert PREQs to POs, and address supplier inquiries.


Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize the ERP system (Costpoint) to manage RFQ creation, submittals, and PREQ to PO conversions.
  2. Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, expedite deliveries, and manage project coordination.
  3. Oversee Open Purchase Orders and overdue POs, prioritizing work and managing order placement and follow-ups as needed.
  4. Track and report on supplier performance, both individually and across top-line summaries, during daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.
  5. Lead efforts to resolve supplier performance and delivery issues, acting as the primary interface between the organization and its suppliers.
  6. Support cost reduction initiatives, contribute to revenue planning, and assist in identifying engineering solutions for alternative parts.
  7. Assist in forecasting, bids support, and reporting activities.
  8. Collaborate closely with the team of Buyers, Category Managers, and Purchasing Manager to develop strategies for improving supplier relationships and obtaining best-value solutions.
  9. Continuously evaluate and improve internal processes to achieve efficiency in sourcing and purchasing.
  10. Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure information flows smoothly to internal customers.

Work Conditions: 

The employee will be working in an office setting and may be required to travel occasionally.


Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in supply chain management or a similar role, preferably in a complex, low-volume industrial sector such as Aerospace or Defense.
  • Skills:
    • Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Costpoint, is highly desirable.
    • Proficiency in Excel and other data-driven tools, with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others and foster strong supplier relationships.
    • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative team.
    • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on meeting deadlines.
    • Strong analytical skills and experience in evaluating bids, vendor performance, and cost reduction activities.
    • US Citizenship.
    • Ability to obtain DoD security clearance

Preferred Requirements:

  • DoD Active Clearance
  • Understanding of aerospace contracts, materials, and technologies employed in large systems environments.
  • CIPS qualification or working towards it is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a cross-functional team is a plus.
  • A valid driving license may be required for occasional travel
