ACE-HF NETWORK, a new HF system simulation and visualization software package for military and commercial HF radio networks is now available. ACE stands for Animated Communications Effectiveness – the key function that permits complex HF networks to be visualized and easily understood. Crucial to covert military operations, ACE-HF quickly finds the best frequencies for the entire net by automating predictions from the U.S. Military Standard VOACAP propagation model. The design incorporates features and methods found in ACE-VLF software developed for the U.S. Navy to predict the effectiveness of submarine communication circuits, and adds new automation for accurate HF network simulation. No longer must HF operators choose between giving away their position through on-air sounding, or by simply transmitting in the blind.
